Summer Night Lights 2016- Site Coordinator Employment Opportunities

SNL 2016: Employment Opportunities

Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Office of Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) is currently accepting applications for Summer Night Lights (SNL) program Site Coordinators. GRYD’s mission is to strengthen youth/young adult, family and community resilience to the influence of gangs by fostering public/private collaboration and supporting community-based prevention and intervention services. SNL is a key component of the comprehensive GRYD strategy which was piloted during the summer of 2008 as a response to research that point to youth being most likely to commit violent crimes during the summer months in the City of Los Angeles. Now in its 9th consecutive summer, the SNL program is implemented in 32 parks across the city with the goal of reducing gang related violence in and around SNL sites & providing community engagement and employment opportunities for youth as well as adults.

Site Coordinators work independently and collaboratively with GRYD staff and program partners (LAPD, Recreation and Parks, GRYD providers) to oversee all aspects of SNL program service delivery at one (1) identified site. Specifically, the Site Coordinator is responsible for implementation of programming, management of site coordination team, implementation of an outreach plan and program calendar, while overseeing administrative tasks. The Site Coordinator will work collaboratively with diverse populations which include potential perpetrators and victims of violence, and manage complex situations effectively.

Site Coordinators’ employment is from Jun. 13, 2016 – Aug. 6, 2016 (40 hours/week) from Aug. 12, 2016 – Aug 27, 2016 (16 hours/week).
