Help L.A. City Better Prepare for Disaster

Participate in the Brief LA Household Resiliency Survey

The Los Angeles Emergency Management Department is evaluating community disaster readiness in the City of Los Angeles utilizing a tool called the Los Angeles Household Resiliency Survey.

EMD would like to use this ranking to identify what might be considered the most and least ready areas of Los Angeles, determine where to direct their resources and educational efforts, and how best to respond to a potential disaster such as an earthquake. Through the Los Angeles Household Resilience Survey, we hope to better understand what makes communities ready for a disaster and use this to best help the communities that are not. The survey asks short and simple questions aimed at evaluating preparedness at the household level. These include questions regarding household members, disaster awareness, and identifying possessions that could be used after a disaster. Any participation in this brief survey will significantly help Los Angeles prepare and recover from a disaster.

Special thanks to the USC grad students from the Sol Price School of Public Policy for their assistance in putting this important survey together!
